Students,
What a wonderful time we had this year! Judging from the comments on your year end survey, most of you had a good learning experience, too!

As you move forward to 11th grade, we hope that you will remember all of the reading, writing, speaking, and listening tools you developed in our class! Continue to work on them and hone them for success in school and life! Read and write as much as you can this summer. Remember when you started the year, and your reading level was not what you expected? Don't have the same thing happen again! Read all summer long! Keep your skills high. This will help you in 11th grade, PSSAs, and in life! The more you read, the better reader you'll be. Also, remember how you were able to tie reading and writing together! Keep working on your writing skills.

Here are some ideas:
  • Read (as much as you can! My personal goal is two books a week.) 4 Books including summer reading lists and award winners
  • Keep a journal.
  • Study vocabulary words, especially if you are going to college and plan to take the SATs. 6 Vocabulary, or Words! Words! Words!
  • Keep up to date on what's happening in the world. Read newspapers and magazines. Analyze websites to make sure they're valid and reliable and check them out for information, too.
  • Take some time to study career options for yourself. What do you want to do with your life?
    • Read biographies, autobiographies, or memoirs of people who work in this field.
    • Find out what it takes to succeed in this field of choice.
    • Think about job shadowing.

When we're not spending time in the garden, book in hand, we may just check our e-mail! Feel free to email us. We'll see you next year!

You have a great future. We're rooting for you.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Redmond and Mrs. Mutchler
